Apprenticeship Support Australia is proud to continue its partnership with the Department of Training and Workforce Development in sponsoring the WA Training Awards for 2017.

The annual awards aim to recognise, reward and celebrate the successes of WA’s VET sector, with 12 different achievement categories for both individuals and organisations to apply for. The State awards also determine WA’s finalists for the National Training Awards which will be held in Canberra later this year.

Manager of Apprenticeship Support Australia, Lena Constantine, says the awards are a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of the training sector in Western Australia.

“The WA Training Awards have been such an honour for Apprenticeship Support Australia to be a part of, especially given the amount of success WA has had at the National Training Awards over the past couple of years.

Apprenticeship Support Australia has sponsored the Employer of the Year category for three consecutive years. Constantine says particularly in the current economic climate, it’s important to recognise the level of commitment made by employers to creating jobs and training opportunities for WA job seekers.

“Apprenticeship Support Australia is committed to getting WA working again, which is why the Employer of the Year category has been such a great fit for us to support.

“Our team gets to see the fantastic day-to-day work that employers do in providing the skills and opportunities people need to become a valuable member of WA’s workforce – it’s a nice opportunity for us to be able to demonstrate our recognition and appreciation for the work they do.

“Employers are such an integral part of the wider training system, so it’s important to ensure that they are recognised for the commitment and investment they make in every apprentice or trainee they take on.

“I’d encourage all employers currently involved in training to consider applying for the Awards, and recommend to any of their star apprentices and trainees that they apply for the individual categories as well.”

To be eligible for the WA Employer of the Year category, an organisation must have 20 or more full time equivalent (FTE) employees, and will need to submit an application which addresses all of the relevant criteria.
