New World, new vision, your future Apprenticeship Support Australia NSW, Queensland and ACT General Manager, Andrew Williams says National Skills Week 2016 is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the diversity of career pathways available through Vocational Education and Training (VET).

Speaking at the start of National Skills Week (August 29-September 4), Mr Williams says vocational education and training is core to advancing Australia’s competitiveness and global opportunity.

“VET is not only for young people about to embark on their careers,” Mr Williams says. “Vocational training pathways are also an effective tool for businesses to use to ensure continuous workforce improvement and to meet changing industry needs.”

This year’s National Skills Week focuses on communicating emerging trends and new growth drivers connecting skills training with job outcomes.

“Vocational education and training (VET) has a pivotal role to play in building the skilled workforce Australia needs today in order to power economic growth and productivity for tomorrow,” Mr Williams said.

Hundreds of organisations involved in vocational training and education have registered special events during National Skills Week around the country.
