What is the Mid-Career Checkpoint Program?

The Mid-Career Checkpoint program is a free service that has been designed to help job-seekers or current workers achieve their career plans. If you are either:

1.    Looking to return to paid work after taking a break (6 months +) to pursue parenting or caring responsibilities,
2.    Back at work after taking a break (6 months +) to pursue parenting or caring responsibilities, but feel that you would like to upskill or
3.    Working in an industry that has been affected by COVID-19 (see below for more detail) and want to explore a change in careers

The Mid-Career Checkpoint program provides skills, assessments, financial assistance to support recommended training, tailored career guidance, including advice on apprenticeships and traineeships as well as all other forms of employment, and coaching sessions all at no cost to you.

If you fall into one of the three categories above, are located in NSW or VIC and are an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, then you may be eligible to join the Mid-Career Checkpoint program.

CAN I GET FINANCIAL SUPPORT?

Absolutely! As part of the program, eligible candidates can access training incentives of up to $3,000. In some instances, this incentive can cover the entire cost of a training course! This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

WHAT DO THE COACHING SESSIONS ENTAIL?

 

As part of the program, MCC coaching sessions have been carefully crafted by our Career Guides and will assist you with building confidence and work readiness skills. 

Each coaching session will cover one of the following topics:

1.
    Resumes and Cover Letters - how to make your resume and cover letter stand out from the crowd
2.
    Interview Skills - common interview questions and how to answer them effectively  
3.
    Confidence Building - how to build confidence when returning to work or progressing your career
4.
    Networking - how to utilise your business and professional network when returning to work
5.
    Job searching - where and how to search for the right jobs
6.
    Communication skills -  learn how to communicate effectively in the workplace
7.
    Workplace culture and expectations - find out about workplace culture and expectations in Australia and how this can differ to working in other countries  
8.
    Digital literacy - get back up to date with changing technological trends
