The Australian Government launched the New Energy Apprenticeships program as part of its commitment to net zero emissions.
The Government is spending $95.6 million over 9 years to support 10,000 New Energy Apprenticeships. The program will see eligible apprentices who started on or after January 1st 2023 receive up to $10,000 over the course of their apprenticeship to relieve cost of living pressures. Full-time apprentices are eligible to claim up to $2,000 at 6, 12, 24 and 36 month intervals, and on completion of their apprenticeship. Part-time apprentices can claim up to $1,000 at these intervals.
APPRENTICES
Eligible apprentices who started on or after January 1st, 2023, can receive up to $10,000 over the course of their apprenticeship.
To be eligible, you must be:

Undertaking a Cert III, IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma level qualification listed on the Priority List.

Training towards an occupation identified as a clean energy occupation on the Priority List.

Employed by an organisation in the clean energy sector, with most of your work in in the renewable energy space. Examples of what renewable energy resources are:
- Solar
- Wind Energy
- Geothermal energy
- Hydropower
- Ocean energy
- Bioenergy

Willing to sign a declaration stating your commitment to building your skills in the clean energy sector.
Employers
If you employ a New Energy Apprentice, you may be eligible for up to $15,000 in wage subsidies.
