Green Future, Skilled Workforce: New Energy Apprenticeship Program

The Australian Government launched the New Energy Apprenticeships program as part of its commitment to net zero emissions.

The Government is spending $95.6 million over 9 years to support 10,000 New Energy Apprenticeships. The program will see eligible apprentices who started on or after January 1st 2023 receive up to $10,000 over the course of their apprenticeship to relieve cost of living pressures. Full-time apprentices are eligible to claim up to $2,000 at 6, 12, 24 and 36 month intervals, and on completion of their apprenticeship. Part-time apprentices can claim up to $1,000 at these intervals. 

 APPRENTICES

Eligible apprentices who started on or after January 1st, 2023, can receive up to $10,000 over the course of their apprenticeship.
To be eligible, you must be:

• Undertaking a Cert III, IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma level qualification listed on the Priority List.

• Training towards an occupation identified as a clean energy occupation on the Priority List.

• Employed by an organisation in the clean energy sector, with most of your work in in the renewable energy space. Examples of what renewable energy resources are:

  • Solar
  • Wind Energy
  • Geothermal energy
  • Hydropower
  • Ocean energy
  • Bioenergy

• Willing to sign a declaration stating your commitment to building your skills in the clean energy sector.

Employers

If you employ a New Energy Apprentice, you may be eligible for up to $15,000 in wage subsidies.
