From 1st July 2018, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) increased the national minimum wage by 3.5% to $719.20 a week. This amounts to a pay increase of at least $24.30 a week for over two million workers whose pay rate is determined by one of the 122 modern awards.

This is the ninth consecutive year that wage growth has outpaced the national inflation rate, currently at 1.9%. This year’s pay bump was also higher than recent years. The national minimum wage and minimum award wage increased by 3.3% in 2017 and 2.4% in 2016.
