A Universe of Skills: Go Beyond Your Imagination this National Skills Week

From August 22-28, this years’ National Skills Week presents the perfect opportunity for local employers and organisations to explore the many ways they can future-proof their business.

It’s no secret that Australia is currently experiencing a nationwide skills shortage. Without the additional help of skilled overseas migrants, there’s never been a more important time to invest in home-grown talent and place a stronger focus on apprenticeships and traineeships.

As a major sponsor for National Skills Week, Apprenticeship Support Australia is thrilled to be part of this important event. As providers of essential services and resources to employers and apprentices, we continue to be active and innovative leaders in skilling Australia for tomorrow.

As commented by, Lee Xavier, Chief Executive at Apprenticeship Support Australia, “as sectors across the country continue to experience a major skills shortage, Apprenticeship Support Australia’s work of ensuring local talent is supported, has become more vital than ever before. We couldn’t be prouder to be named a major sponsor of this years’ National Skills Week – allowing us, amongst other things, to showcase our leadership in the VET sector. We believe the best way to lead a strong nationwide economic recovery is through highlighting the diversity of career pathways available and to bring focus on range of emerging skills needs. By backing the newest generation of skilled workers, Australian businesses will not only future-proof themselves, but our economy at large”.

Understanding the full potential of trained and skilled employees can set businesses up for ongoing future success. To get ahead of the current and growing skill shortages, this National Skills Week, Apprenticeship Support Australia is setting out to highlight the importance of re-training, cross-training, and upskilling as well as focusing on the various skills that make up a valuable employee – from technical to transferable skills, soft skills and beyond.

With support from their partners at Skillsroad, Apprenticeship Support Australia will also empower young Australians to #SpillYourSkills and encourage them to take charge of their education and career progression. In fostering this confidence, the goal is to help future employees feel prepared to take on challenges and opportunities they never thought possible. To create a universe of skills that will allow them to live, work and play beyond their imagination.
