Incentives and funding

The Australian government offers a range of support payments and incentives for apprentices and trainees, so you can focus on your education and training without worrying about the cost of living.

Australian Apprentice Training Support Payment

The Australian Apprentice Training Support Payment provides direct financial support (up to a maximum of two years) to Australian Apprentices commencing an apprenticeship in a priority occupation.

Living Away from Home Allowance (LAFHA)

LAFHA is a Commonwealth Government allowance to assist you if you have to move away from home to take up or continue with your apprenticeship or traineeship.

Australian Apprenticeship Support Loans (AASL)

From 1 January 2024, Trade Support Loans (TSL) are known as Australian Apprenticeship Support Loans (AASL). You may be eligible to take out a loan while undertaking your training.

Key Apprenticeship Program (KAP)

The Key Apprenticeship Program is designed to encourage apprentices to choose new energy and housing construction careers. The incentive is available for apprentices commencing from 1 July 2025.

Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System Program Guidelines

This guideline outlines the administration, delivery, and payment structure of the Incentive System. Participants must meet both primary and standard eligibility requirements to claim payments, and additional criteria apply for specific payment types.

The Apprentice Connect Australia Provider – Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct applies to all Apprentice Connect Australia Providers and the staff. It represents the standards they apply when they deal with you.

Code of good practice

This has been developed to ensure employers, apprentices and trainees entering into a training contract have a clear understanding of each other’s obligations and expectations throughout the lifetime of your apprenticeship.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference number that gives you access to your personal training records in the National VET Data Collection. You need to provide this at the sign-up.

Apprenticeships Data Management System (ADMS)

ADMS is an online platform developed by the Australian Government that helps manage claims and applications for apprentices.

National employment standards

Understanding the National Employment Standards (NES) is essential for ensuring compliance and protecting your rights.
