“Discover your journey to a career” during National Skills Week 2015

Apprenticeship Support Australia’s Managing Director, Darren Cocks, says National Skills Week 2015 is a fantastic opportunity to spotlight the power of vocational education and training to kick-start Australian careers across a plethora of industries.

Speaking ahead of this year’s National Skills Week (August 24-30), Mr Cocks says
vocational education and training is not only for young people about to embark on new careers, but can also be utilised by mature employees to upskill or retrain and keep pace with changing industry needs.

“Business should seriously examine vocational education and training options when planning staff development – they can be a cost-effective solution to keeping employees abreast of latest industry trends and technologies – boosting  industry competitiveness,” Mr Cocks said.

“Vocational education and training (VET) has a pivotal role to play in building the skilled workforce Australia needs today in order to power economic growth and productivity for tomorrow.”

Hundreds of organisations involved in vocational training and education have registered special events during National Skills Week around the country.
