Diversity, equity and inclusion

We believe everyone deserves the chance to learn, grow and succeed. We support diversity and fair access to skills and training. We work with apprentices and businesses to build safe, strong and inclusive workplaces.

Our commitment

Across our network, we work to create safe and supportive workplaces for everyone. We want all people to feel valued, respected and able to succeed.

Our offices across Australia show strong leadership in diversity and inclusion. We’ve been recognised as a Diversity Council of Australia’s Inclusive Employer (2025-2026) in Western Australia and hold a WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality award for our offices in Victoria.

Together, we promote fairness and equal opportunity for all. Our shared policies and actions guide how we support apprentices, employers and communities across Australia.

What diversity, equity and inclusion mean to us

  • Diversity means we value all ages, abilities, cultures, gender and background.
  • Equity means we give everyone fair access to the tools and support they need to succeed.
  • Inclusion means we create workplaces and learning spaces where everyone feels welcome, safe and valued.

These ideas guide the way we work. We support apprentices as they start their careers and work with employers to build inclusive workplaces for the future.

Our focus areas

We’re proud to support gender diversity across our network:

  • As a Women in Trades Specialist Provider, we remove barriers to help women start and finish apprenticeships in traditionally male-dominated industries.
  • We offer mentoring, workplace support and employer guidance to create safe, inclusive environments where women can thrive.
  • Our partnership with Empowered Women in Trades (EWIT), inspires more women to see trades as a rewarding career path.
  • We actively promote gender equality across all levels of our organisation. As of September 2025:
    • In NSW and QLD, women hold 45.6% of leadership roles.
    • Across VIC, SA, and TAS, women represent 50% of executive positions.
    • In WA, 71% of managerial roles are held by women.

We are committed to creating more opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples:

  • In NSW and WA, our First Nations Specialist Provider program offers one-on-one mentoring, community support and guidance to help First Nations apprentices start, stay and succeed.
  • We work with employers to build understanding, create inclusive workplaces and create stronger local partnerships.
  • In NSW, 2% of our team indentifies as Aboriginial or Torres Strait Islander. In WA, this representation is 3%.
  • Several of our state offices lead reconciliation work in their regions:
    • In Western Australia, Reconciliation Australia accredits our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (2023–2025), and the office is part of the RAP Network.
    • In New South Wales and Queensland, our Innovate RAP (2023–2025) builds respectful relationships and creates opportunities for First Nations peoples. The office also celebrates National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
    • In Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania our Reflect RAP, endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, guides our work to build respect and opportunity for First Nations communities across the region.

We value the different backgrounds that make up our teams and the communities we support.

  • We promote fair and inclusive recruitment so our workforce reflects the people we support.
  • We celebrate multicultural events and encourage open conversations that build understanding and respect.
  • In NSW and QLD, 20% of employees identify as culturally and linguistically diverse.
  • In WA, our staff identify with 50 different cultures, and 19% of our employees are bilingual or multilingual, collectively speaking 43 different languages. Additionally, 45% of our team were born overseas.
  • We review our practices often to make sure every apprentice, trainee and team member feels welcome and supported.

We believe everyone should feel safe and respected at work, no matter who they are.

  • We support LGBTQIA+ inclusion across our network through awareness, education and visible support.
  • We take part in Pride events and promote open and respectful workplaces.
  • Our NSW and QLD offices are proud members of the Welcome Here Project, showing our commitment to safety and inclusion.
  • We encourage all workplaces to celebrate diversity and build cultures where everyone can be themselves.
  • In WA, 4% of our employees identify as LGBTQIA+.

We want every person to have the same chance to learn, work and succeed.

  • We support apprentices with disabilities through mentoring, workplace support and ongoing guidance.
  • We help employers create safe and accessible workplaces for everyone. We also guide them in accessing government funding through the Disability Australian Apprentice Wage Support (DAAWS) program, which offers financial and practical support for apprentices with a disability.
  • Our offices in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmanian are members of the Australian Apprenticeship Disability Network (AADN). The network brings together apprenticeship and disability organisations to share knowledge, build sector capacity and promote inclusive apprenticeships. By working together, we help remove barriers and improve outcomes for apprentices with a disability and their employers.
  • In WA, 3% of our employees have disabilities.

Governance, accountability and progress

Diversity and inclusion are part of how we work every day. Our leaders, policies and shared actions keep us accountable and continually improving. We review our diversity and inclusion plans often and collect data to measure our progress. We are proud to have chambers recognised nationally as a Diversity Council of Australia Inclusive Employer (2025-2026) and a WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.

  • 73% of employees in our WA office are women
  • 58% of management roles across VIC, SA and TAS are held by women
  • 20% of NSW and QLD employees are culturally and linguistically diverse
  • 3% of our WA workforce identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
