Mentoring and support

Balancing work, study and life as an apprentice can be challenging. Get help from a mentor to navigate challenges, build confidence and stay on track.

Mentoring and personal support services

Every journey needs a guide. Our mentors are in your corner, helping to guide you through the ups and downs of work, training and life.

Starting an apprenticeship is exciting, but it also comes with challenges. Balancing work, study and personal life can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Our Mentoring and Personal Support Services (MPSS) team helps you navigate your apprenticeship. Whether you need advice on workplace challenges, career planning, or personal matters, our mentors are here for you.

What is a mentor, and why do you need one?

A mentor guides you through your apprenticeship, they give practical advice to help you with:

  • Navigating workplace expectations and responsibilities.
  • Managing stress, mental health, and wellbeing.
  • Strengthening communication and workplace relationships.
  • Staying motivated and on track with your training.

What mentoring support services are available?

  • Regular check-ins to talk about any problems at work or with your training.
  • Mediation services to help fix problems at work and build better relationships.
  • Support for mental health, bullying, harassment, and financial stress.
  • Referrals to specialist organisations for more support.

  • Mentoring for your specific career path.
  • Help with next steps after your apprenticeship.
  • Support with new skills that will help you with future jobs.

  • Opportunities to meet other apprentices and share experiences.
  • Building relationships and learning from others.
  • Helping with problems that might stop you from finishing your apprenticeship.

Your journey is unique, so your support should be too. Our mentors will work with you to create a Tailored Support Plan (sometimes referred to as TSP), which will cover the services you need. This plan will evolve as you progress, so you always have the right help when you need it.
