The Australian Government is committed to supporting the development of a skilled workforce by offering incentives and funding for employers hiring Australian apprentices and trainees. Our team provides expert guidance and support to ensure your business can access funding for apprenticeships and grow your team with skilled and motivated individuals.
The following financial incentives and support are available from 1 July 2025.
The Priority Hiring Incentive provides financial support to businesses who hire apprentices in occupations where there's a national skills shortage. This initiative aims to boost Australian Apprenticeship commencements and retention in industries where skilled workers are in high demand.
Financial incentives for hiring apprentices in priority occupations:
To access this incentive, apprentices must be in occupations listed on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List. For the most up to date priority list, follow the link below.
If your business hires an Australian apprentice with a disability, you may be eligible for the Disability Australian Apprentice Wage Support (DAAWS). This initiative provides financial support to help offset the costs associated with employing an apprentice with a disability and includes support services to ensure a successful training journey.
The DAAWS is also available to employers who hire apprentices who become disabled at any point during their apprenticeship, ensuring they can successfully continue and complete their training.
To be eligible for DAAWS, your apprentice must meet the criteria defined by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and be enrolled in a Certificate II or higher level qualification.
In addition to national incentives, each state offers extra support for businesses based on where the Australian Apprentice works. Download the PDF below to see what federal and state-specific benefits are available in your state.
