Finding the right employee for your business
Recruiting the right apprentice or trainee for your business is critically important. You will be investing in up to four years of on-the-job training
and you want to make sure you make the right hiring decision for a mutually beneficial outcome.
There are a number of channels for recruiting new staff, including online jobs boards, newspaper advertising and word-of-mouth, but we can also assist you in finding that right candidate.
Skillsroad Jobs Board
Our careers portal, Skillsroad.com.au
, is specifically focussed at 15-25 year old candidates and our Jobs Board
is widely recognised as a go-to destination for candidates looking for entry level roles, apprenticeships, traineeships and graduate positions. With thousands of Australia's youth registered as Skillsroad
members, we suggest this is a great place to start your recruitment. And best of all, it's FREE to advertise!
The Skillsroad Jobs Board
allows employers to list vacancies and monitor applicants free of charge, while job seekers can apply directly online for positions that interest them.
as an employer to unlock your dashboard, fill in your job details and hit submit!
You will receive updates when applicants apply and applications can be viewed in your personalised dashboard.
Group Training Organisations
A Group Training Organisation
(GTO) employs apprentices and trainees and hires them out to “host employers”. The GTO is responsible for the quality and continuity of the employment and training, and provides care and support throughout the apprenticeship or traineeship.
Registered Training Organisations
Many Registered Training Organisations
(RTO) provide pre-vocational or pre-employment courses in specific disciplines. Students who have completed these courses have proven their commitment to learning and development and are equipped with skills to jump-start into a business.
Many schools offer school-based training programs and may advertise the position to the school community. Our team has an extensive network among schools and established relationships with teachers, careers advisers and VET coordinators should you need more information.
Vocational, Training and Employment Centres
Vocational, Training and Employment Centres (VTECs) work with employers to identify jobs for Indigenous job seekers and establish the training requirements for these jobs. VTECs ensure Indigenous job seekers have the skills needed for the job with training tailored to the specifications of the employer.
Workforce Australia is a national network of around 200 private, community and government organisations dedicated to finding jobs for unemployed people.
