Apprentice spotlight: Jazmin Bingham’s journey – turning ambition into opportunity

At just the start of her career, Jazmin Bingham is already making a meaningful impact – proving that a traineeship isn’t just a stepping stone, but a launchpad for future success.

Why choose a traineeship?

For Jazmin, the decision to pursue a Certificate III in Business with the Limestone Coast Landscape Board was about more than just gaining a qualification.

“It’s a great lead way to pursue my career in government,” she says.

Like many, she first heard about traineeships through school, and saw it as the perfect way to bridge the gap between education and a rewarding career.

Real-world experience, real impact

A typical day for Jazmin is anything but ordinary. From invoicing and supporting managers to updating websites and engaging with the community, her role is hands-on and dynamic.

She’s contributed to projects that promote sustainable land management and environmental protection, helping to deliver programs that strengthen the connection between people and country.

But it’s not just about the tasks – it's about growth.

“I get a qualification and fundamental basic learning of how government systems work,” Jazmin says.

She’s proud of mastering invoicing and coding, and has learned to tackle challenges head-on – especially when it comes to IT!

Support every step of the way

Apprenticeship Support Australia has been a constant presence, from sign-up to regular check-ins and mentoring.

“They helped me throughout the sign-up process and continued to help whenever I needed it,” Jazmin says.

This support network ensures apprentices never feel alone on their journey.

Making a difference

Beyond her daily duties, Jazmin has taken part in community initiatives like “Carbon Counts”, a workshop helping farmers and community members understand carbon emissions.

She’s spoken at board meetings and been reappointed as a youth advisor for the Department for Climate Change, Energy and Water. Her family and friends are proud to see her forging a path in a field she’s passionate about.

Looking to the future

What’s next? Jazmin plans to continue working in government, focusing on climate, and pursue further study in media, communications, or environmental science.

Her advice to anyone considering an apprenticeship? “Do it, what do you have to lose? To get where you want to go you have to put in the hard yards.”

Three words to describe the journey

Supportive. Exciting. Growth.

Traineeships open doors. They offer real skills, real support, and real opportunities to make a difference. If you’re a young person considering your next step, an employer looking to build capability, or a stakeholder in vocational education and training – take inspiration from Jazmin Bingham’s story. The pathway is there. All you need to do is take the first step.
