Queenslanders now have greater access to career-building opportunities through Career Start and Career Boost – two Queensland Government programs designed to strengthen the state’s apprenticeship and traineeship pathways.
Career Start supports job seekers and young people taking their first step into skilled work. The program funds apprenticeships and traineeships at Certificate II and III levels, allowing eligible participants to complete up to two qualifications, including school-based training, in priority and emerging industries. Extra assistance is available for women, regional learners, and those needing foundation skills, helping more Queenslanders get job-ready.
For workers looking to advance their careers, Career Boost funds apprenticeships and traineeships at Certificate IV level and above. The program helps participants gain higher-level skills, opening doors to career progression while meeting industry demand for advanced capabilities.
Both initiatives make training more affordable, with the Queensland Government covering a portion of the costs directly through approved providers. Participants pay a co-contribution fee, and VET Student Loans are available for eligible higher-level Career Boost qualifications.
All training must be delivered by a Skills Assure Supplier, ensuring quality and industry relevance.
Together, Career Start and Career Boost are building a stronger, more skilled workforce for Queensland’s future.
