Two recent events included the 2025 Hobart and Southern Tasmania Employment & Careers Expo, and Southern Employment & Training Network Huon Valley Jobs Expo, represented by ASA State Operations Manager (Tasmania) Naomi Walker and Industry Training Consultant Sam Tavares. The former was a free event promoting employment, training, support services and career pathways across the greater Southern Tasmania region.
Attended by more than 3,000 people, it included a wide variety of exhibitors, including employers, training companies, industry bodies, support services and other organisations helping participants take the first or next step in their careers.
Ms Walker participated in a panel for the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Master Class. “A massive day talking with Tassie’s future apprentices and trainees and connecting with local employers about how we can help and support them,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Southern Employment & Training Network Huon Valley Jobs Expo 2025 at the Huonville Trade Training Centre offered a valuable opportunity for students, job seekers, and community members to explore local employment and training pathways.
The event brought together a diverse mix of employers, training providers, and regional organisations, creating a dynamic space for learning and connection.
Attendees engaged with representatives from various industries, gaining insights into career options and educational opportunities.
Open to the entire community, the Expo drew more than 1,000 people, catering to individuals at all stages of their career journey, whether they were just starting out, seeking a new direction, or supporting someone else’s path.
It proved to be a meaningful occasion for gathering information and building networks. “It was great to share what we do with the local community including school students, job seekers, local support organisations and employers,” Ms Walker said.
