New dual-trade apprenticeship launches in SA

South Australia has launched Australia’s first dual-trade apprenticeship in agricultural machinery technology and automotive electrical technology.

As the automotive industry grapples with industry skill shortages, the dual trade apprenticeship is designed to improve business productivity and apprentice employability in the precision agricultural space.

Supported by the South Australian Skills Commission, the Motor Trade Association SA/NT’s (MTA) successful application follows last year’s launch of Australia’s first automotive dual trade apprenticeships.

South Australian Skills Commissioner Cameron Baker said: “This program is a clear example of responsive, industry-driven skills development,” Commissioner Baker said.

“It reflects our focus on building a workforce that is agile, future-ready and capable of supporting key sectors of our economy.”

This new dual trade apprenticeship will be available for apprentices across South Australia and will be delivered by MTA Training and Employment in Cleve, Royal Park and Bordertown.

Apprenticeship Support Australia General Manager, Engagement and Technical Support Jarrod Cartwright said: “At Apprenticeship Support Australia, we’re proud to champion initiatives like this that not only upskill apprentices but also strengthen Australia’s economic resilience.

“Apprenticeship Support Australia continues to support employers and apprentices with expert guidance, mentoring, and tailored services to ensure success across every stage of the apprenticeship journey.”

Apprenticeship Support Australia is contracted by the Australian Government to provide tailored support for apprentices, trainees, and employers across Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania. Contact our team today to discover how we can help you succeed.
