Real Careers, Real Advice for students

School students from Holy Cross College visited East Perth on Friday to get ‘real careers, real advice’ from the Apprenticeship Support Australia team.

The students spent the morning learning about what apprenticeships and traineeships are all about; received tips on how to find an employer; and then watched a brief video about Skillsroad, our innovative careers hub.

Chevron apprentices Juanita Troy and Tim Wood spoke to the students about how they got into their apprenticeships and provided insight into what it was like to be an apprentice and their future prospects.  The apprentices recommended getting as much work experience as possible while at school to help with securing an apprenticeship with a great employer.

Lots of questions got the Milky Ways flying as the Year 10 students were asked what career pathways they were interested in.  One-on-one assistance was provided by Apprenticeship Support Australia as the students investigated different career opportunities and the qualifications available to them.
