ASA WA General Manager, Nathan Bentley, officially launched Apprenticeship Support Australia describing the new services as different from previous years, and is now bigger, better and has more to offer our clients.
“Under the new Australian Apprenticeship Support Network programme, our services provide an end to end service delivery to employers, apprentices, job seekers, parents, students, career counsellors and teachers”, Nathan says.
Guests received a personal demonstration of the online tools and resources Skillsroad.com.au offers to job-seekers and employers, including the Skillsroad Career Quiz.
“The Skillsroad Career Quiz, developed by our professional psychologist, Danielle Buckley, is central to our mandate to turn around poor apprenticeship completion rates that stem from ill-informed career choices,” Nathan says.
“Research[i] tells us that the ‘employment experience’, including a dislike of the industry or type of work, plays a major role in influencing apprentices’ decisions to leave their jobs.
“Meanwhile, employers are frustrated by the process of training new recruits, only to have them leave when realise they have selected a vocation that is not for them.
“Apprenticeship Support Australia is determined to break this cycle by helping young people make initial career choices that will make them more likely to succeed by basing them on their passions and actual skill-sets.
“And we are concurrently helping employers to transition new recruits smoothly into their businesses by offering them practical resources and support tools they can implement directly into the workplace.
“Apprenticeship Support Australia WA is proud to be playing a key role in ensuring apprentices and their employers receive premium apprenticeship support services to drive completion rates and build the national talent pool.” Nathan concluded.
