The Western Australian Government has further expanded the fee-free and low-fee TAFE training to meet the growing demand for a skilled workforce in the State’s housing construction sector.
Some 50 fee free and low fee TAFE courses will be available across WA starting in 2026, offering Western Australians the opportunity to take up careers in the building and construction industry.
From January 2026, WA TAFE colleges will offer 26 fee-free and 24 low-fee courses in building and construction, including certificate I to IV qualifications, diplomas, skill sets and pre-apprenticeships.
The State Government is also investing $21.9 million to add seven new building and construction courses to the fee-free list, opening up opportunities for people to access work in the industry.
Apprenticeship Support Australia (ASA) welcomes these initiatives as they strengthen pathways into skilled careers. By reducing training costs and expanding pre-apprenticeship options, the WA Government’s investment aligns with ASA’s commitment to supporting individuals and businesses through apprenticeship programs, providing guidance on incentives and resources to help build a skilled workforce for the housing construction sector.
