The 2026 Occupation Shortage List Stakeholder Survey is now open, and Jobs and Skills Australia are inviting stakeholders to share their experience of recruitment challenges across the labour market.
The Occupation Shortage List is updated each year and identifies jobs that are in shortage across nationally, and in each state and territory. It helps policy makers understand current and emerging skills needs and informs advice on potential responses to workforce shortages.
By contributing to the 2026 Occupation Shortage List Stakeholder Survey, you can provide valuable insights into the occupations experiencing shortages and the recruitment challenges faced by employers. Your input will help ensure the 2026 list reflects real workforce needs.
The information collected by Jobs and Skills Australia, along with occupation data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), helps inform the Australian Apprenticeship Priority List. This list determines which occupations are eligible for Australian Government apprenticeship incentives.
The survey is open until 5pm (AEDT) on Wednesday 18 March 2026.
