Applications for the 2026 Women in Trades Scholarship program now open

The WA Government is boosting opportunities for women in trades through the Women in Trades Scholarship Program, offering $5,000 to support women training or upskilling in underrepresented industries.

In 2026, 100 scholarships will be available across five TAFE colleges, including regional campuses. The $2 million initiative will provide up to 400 scholarships over four years for women undertaking eligible apprenticeships, traineeships, or qualifications at WA TAFEs.

Funds can be used for course fees, study materials, tools, workwear, PPE, licences, transport, accommodation, and childcare.

With women making up less than 25% of the workforce in several industries, the program aims to increase women’s participation in areas such as construction, STEM, clean energy, manufacturing, defence, automotive, electrical, and mining.

Applications for the 2026 scholarships are now open at all WA TAFE colleges.
