Connecting for skills growth: ASA WA hosts Churchill Fellow

Apprenticeship Support Australia in Western Australia recently welcomed a Churchill Fellow and explored ideas to engage with small and medium businesses taking on apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships.

WA's Apprenticeship Support Australia team recently welcomed Katy Dorman, an Apprenticeship Strategy Manager from the UK, who was in Australia as part of her Churchill Fellowship exploring ideas to engage with small and medium businesses taking on apprenticeships and pre-apprenticeships.

Katy was met by our state manager, Carly Waterfield, along with Jodie Dutton from Workforce Australia Local Jobs - Perth North, for an in-depth discussion exploring common challenges and potential ideas to strengthen skills development.

Highlights of this meeting included a visit to Muresk Institute, as well as connecting with Wheatbelt Business Network, Workforce Australia Local Jobs - Great Southern and Wheatbelt and AFGRI Equipment Australia.

The team introduced Katy to the targeted support services offered to employers, apprentices and job seekers, and shared the challenges and opportunities in engaging with businesses and their apprentices in achieving positive training outcomes.

A big thank you to Katy for taking the time to meet with the team and for sharing her insights on building a skilled workforce.
