$10,000 hospitality scholarships open for Victorian apprentices

Aspiring hospitality professionals in Victoria have a new opportunity to kickstart their careers through the Victorian TAFE Network Hospitality & Cookery Scholarship Program.

Designed to support emerging talent and address skills shortages across the state, the program offers $10,000 scholarships to eligible students pursuing key hospitality qualifications.

Supporting the next generation of hospitality talent

The scholarship is available to students enrolling in one of the following courses:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (Apprenticeship)
  • Certificate IV in Kitchen Management (Apprenticeship)
  • Diploma of Hospitality Management
  • Certificate IV in Hospitality (Traineeship).

Successful applicants will receive the $10,000 scholarship in three instalments:

  • $3,300 following course commencement and satisfactory attendance
  • $3,300 at the midpoint of the course
  • $3,400 upon completion and submission of a post-course survey.

This financial support is designed to ease the cost of training and encourage students to complete their qualifications and enter the workforce with confidence.

Eligibility criteria

To apply, candidates must:

  • Intend to enrol in and complete one of the eligible courses
  • Demonstrate ambition and a genuine interest in working in the hospitality sector
  • Not have previously received a Victorian TAFE Hospitality Scholarship
  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a permanent humanitarian visa with the legal right to work in Australia.

Merit and equity-based selection

Scholarships may be awarded based on either merit or equity considerations:#

  • Merit-based applicants should demonstrate academic excellence or workplace performance, supported by previous study results or a recommendation from an employer.
  • Equity-based applicants may qualify based on financial hardship, regional relocation, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background, disability, or other challenging circumstances. Supporting documentation is required.

How to apply

Interested applicants can apply through their preferred TAFE institution. Scholarships are limited and competitive, so early application is encouraged.

More information, and registration, is available via TAFE Victoria and the Victorian TAFE Network Hospitality Scholarship Application.
