Business NSW's Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) has been formally endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards reconciliation.
Reconciliation Australia outlines that a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a strategic document which outlines practical actions that will drive an organisation's contribution to reconciliation both internally and in the communities in which it operates.
Peter Gilchrist, Executive Director, Apprenticeship Support Australia was instrumental in reaching this milestone as a member of the RAP Working Group. As commented by Peter,
'Fantastic news to hear of the endorsement of the Business NSW Innovative Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) by Reconciliation Australia. This is a significant achievement reflecting the enterprise's commitment to fostering a more inclusive, respectful, and equitable future by creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and businesses.
The RAP outlines how we will actively contribute to the reconciliation, including promoting cultural understanding and respect. By maintaining a strong commitment to the principles of reconciliation, Business NSW can serve as a beacon to inspire others to follow suit in building a more inclusive society. Thank you to the team behind this significant milestone on the journey for a more equitable future for all.'
At the heart of this document is the need to acknowledge injustices, build bridges, and celebrate the rich cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples – this is something every one of us can play a part.
