Café assistant, Claudia Mourambine, started at IERAMUGADU Café in 2015 through a work experience placement with the Warrgamugardi Yirdiyabura Employment Program, sponsored by the North West Shelf Venture.
Following her work experience, Claudia has continued working in the café, commenced a Hospitality Traineeship and has been given additional work responsibilities.
“Training has been a great way to improve my skills. I’ve been able to learn everything from making coffees and preparing food, to health and safety, money handling and customer service,” says Claudia.
“This qualification will give me more opportunities in the future. I’ve worked here over the past year and have now worked my way up to a supervisor role at the café.”
Café Manager, Adrian Wilson, believes that training is crucial for staff as it allows them to gain hands-on experience whilst working towards gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
“The Hospitality Traineeship equips our team with new skills and confidence, improved job prospects, but most importantly a sense of achievement and success as each unit of study is completed along the way,” said Adrian.
“Claudia’s sister Tenika has now joined our team and commenced a Hospitality Traineeship, and we hope to offer further training opportunities in the future.”
