Time to apply for free training scholarships

Applications are now being accepted for 200,000 free vocational education and training places across NSW, as part of the Government’s Smart and Skilled Scholarship program for disadvantaged youth.

“Eligible young people (aged 15-30) can choose to apply for fee-free training scholarships from Certificate 1 to Certificate 1V levels in more than 580 qualifications,” Apprenticeship Support Australia NSW General Manager, Andrew Williams said today.

“The free training is available to people on Commonwealth Welfare allowances such as Newstart or a Youth Allowance, or dependents of Commonwealth Welfare recipients, and priority will be given to those living in Social Housing or who are on the Social Housing waiting list,” ” Mr Williams said.

“These training places have been provided to help young people gain the skills and qualifications they need to secure meaningful employment.

“I urge anyone who is eligible to take advantage of these scholarship opportunities – they could herald the beginning of some fantastic new careers.”
