Hunter Regional Apprentice and Trainee Advisory Committee Awards 2015

Australian Business Apprenticeships Centre is extremely gratified to have played a role in the careers of the following winners, as their apprenticeships services provider:

Mitchell Olsen, who scooped the award in the Trainee of the Year category for Property Services, started off in accountancy at university, before deciding a career in real estate was more his style. The decision has paid off, with a flair for managing properties for Baird Real Estate Cessnock seeing him create records within the industry for leasing properties. Mitchell plans to continue his studies in order to move into a sales role, and to eventually secure his Real Estate Licence.

Johnathan Lawler, who is employed with Newcastle Master Builders Group Training and Personnel, won the award for his outstanding work in the business as he qualified for the Carpentry Certificate III.

Nathan Phillips is well on the way to achieving his plumber’s contractor license, having taken the award for his work towards the Plumbing Certificate III qualification. Nathan  already holds a Certificate II in Construction, having completed this qualification while still at school studying for his HSC.

Thomas Maher, who has spent the first two years of his apprenticeship combining school, TAFE and work at Marin Air Conditioning, received the gong for School-based Apprentice/Trainee of the Year. Thomas, who has kick-started his career by beginning training while still at school, is considering plans to work towards becoming a trainer himself.

Australian Business Apprenticeships Centre General Manager, Andrew Williams says that this year’s winners exemplify the advantages of jumping into vocational education as a career booster, with all of them well on the way to success in their chosen industries.
